ALESSIA DISIMINO, DIRECTOR OF STRINGS

The North York String Academy is open to children ages 4-17 who wish to study the violin through a curriculum that includes private and group lessons, chamber music, theory and masterclasses, and performance opportunities. Instruction is based upon the methods and philosophies of Shinichi Suzuki, Paul Rolland, and Mimi Zweig. Beginning students participate weekly in both a private and group lesson. Suzuki repertoire provides the framework of the String Academy private and group lesson curriculum because of its well-conceived progression of pieces. Supplemental pieces are included along the way, and transition into RCM conservatory preparation can also be encouraged once a healthy foundation is established.

ADULT VIOLIN LESSONS

BEGINNER TO ADVANCED

Alessia has years of experience providing private violin instruction to students of all ages and levels. Beginner, amateur, advanced violin students are welcome, with optional concert and performance opportunities through North York String Academy. Orchestral and chamber music-focused coachings are also offered. Lessons are curated around the needs and pieces that adult students would like to learn, with supplemental technical and musical exercises to help strengthen various aspects of violin playing, including vibrato, posture, violin set-up and comfort, bow strokes, fluidity and speed exercises, musicality, and expression.
